Each year, in the first week of September, the Brisbane Writers' Festival holds a week of celebrations with a series of author chats (face-to-face and online) and writing events. Word Play is the Festival's program specifically designed for students in Years 4 to 10. Word Play is three days of literature, history, art and science. It brings together some of Australia's best authors and introduces audiences to exciting new talent. Each year, Mitchie selects a small group of students who demonstrate a love or talent for writing to attend one day of the Word Play festival. Students love meeting their favourite authors and discussing their passion for writing.
