STRINGS PROGRAM

GRANDPARENT CONCERT

Mitchelton’s Grandparent concert is a wonderful annual event that takes place in school time during second term.  Every child in the school including Prep plus all three choirs will perform on stage.  Each year this introduction of stage performing encourages budding young choristers to join the school choirs.

CHOIR TOUR

Each year, the choir’s tour suburbs close to Mitchelton.  They visit either retirement homes or child care centres to perform a variety of music that they have learnt that year.  Choir tours not only treat our audiences with a wonderful concert, but also develops confidence, tolerance, discipline and satisfaction within its members.

WOODWIND, BRASS AND PERCUSSION PROGRAM

Children in years 4, 5 and 6 at Mitchelton State School are eligible to learn flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French Horn, trombone, percussion (drums and tuned instruments) and glockenspiel.  Students who take part in the instrumental program receive free tuition from the visiting instrumental music teachers for 30 minutes each week during school time.  Our excellent band program includes such things as : a beginner music camp,  an advanced music camp, a band tour and being part of our school BAM festival.

BAM

Mitchelton’s Books, art and music festival is a wonderful experience not to be missed, held annually during the month of August.  The musical component involves an enjoyable evening concert with our choirs, string orchestra and band.  They present a performance of repertoire studied throughout the term.
