The Mitchelton State School community maintains an ongoing relationship with our Elder-In-Residence, Aunty Brenda Holt-Kanofski.
Aunty Brenda is a Bidjara-Wakka woman.
Aunty Brenda was born in Gayndah in the South Burnett area of Queensland. Her mother’s family are the traditional owners of that area which is known as Wakka Wakka country. Her father was born in Springsure in Central Queensland. This area is known as Bidjara country and includes the beautiful Carnavon Gorge.
